Phiona Nyamutoro, Uganda’s State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development (in charge of Minerals) and a wife to singer Eddy Kenzo, has declared her intention to run for the Nebbi District Woman Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming elections.

Currently serving as the National Youth Representative in the 11th Parliament, Nyamutoro made the announcement on Mother’s Day via her social media platforms.

In her message, she honored the district’s legacy, stating, “Nebbi has mothered many great and significant citizens for our Nation and now it’s time for Her to Shine. Happy Mother’s Day,” alongside her official campaign poster.

She also emphasized that it was “her time to shine,” marking a confident step into the political race.

Nyamutoro will contest under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and is expected to challenge incumbent Agnes Acibu, also from the NRM, setting the stage for a competitive intra-party contest.

Her bid has already generated significant attention and support, particularly from the entertainment community and her fans.
