National Unity Platform (NUP) Deputy Spokesperson and Nakawa East parliamentary hopeful, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, has been hit with fresh charges of incitement, further extending his stay on remand at Luzira Prison.

Mufumbiro, who was arrested last month, appeared before the Nakawa Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, where prosecutors accused him of inciting NUP supporters to commit acts of violence against security officers.

The prosecution claims that on September 4, 2025, in Kampala, Mufumbiro allegedly urged NUP supporters to target security personnel. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Grade One Magistrate Frank Nahamya, who subsequently remanded him until November 6, 2025, as police complete their investigations.

The NUP deputy spokesperson is also facing separate charges related to military-style training and is expected to appear later today at Kawempe Magistrates Court alongside nine other co-accused individuals.
