The Nebbi District Campaign Task Force of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has finalized preparations ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign rally scheduled for Saturday.
The task force held its final planning meeting on Friday, chaired by the State Minister for Mineral Development, Phiona Nyamutoro, who also serves as the NRM flag bearer for the Nebbi Woman MP seat.
Nyamutoro told journalists that mobilization efforts had been completed across all sub-counties to ensure a strong turnout.
“We’ve met with all our sub-county chairpersons and local leaders to agree on effective mobilization and time management since the rally will take place in the morning.Nebbi District stands firmly behind President Museveni. Tomorrow’s rally will not just be a campaign it will be a celebration of his legacy.”she said .
She noted that the President’s visit is largely a gesture of appreciation for Nebbi’s consistent support for the NRM.
“In Nebbi, he’s not really coming to campaign. He’s coming to thank his people for their continued trust and loyalty,” Nyamutoro added.
The minister highlighted key achievements under the NRM government, including Nebbi’s renewed representation at the ministerial level after two decades, the commissioning of the Nebbi substation connecting West Nile to the national grid, and the planned upgrade of the 16-kilometer Nebbi–Goli Road.
She also announced plans for an industrial park at Omvoro Village in Nyaravur Sub-county, set to be prioritized in the next financial year.
“With projects like the industrial park and agro-processing facilities, Nebbi is on its way to becoming a hub of economic growth in West Nile,” Nyamutoro said.
She further called for increased investment in the health and education sectors, proposing the elevation of Nebbi General Hospital to a regional referral hospital and more funding for public schools.
“We appreciate the President’s ongoing review of the Parish Development Model to strengthen financial empowerment. Once health, education, and livelihoods are improved, Nebbi will be unstoppable,” she remarked.
As Minister for Mineral Development, Nyamutoro also revealed that new mineral deposits had been discovered in the district, which the government plans to explore to benefit the local community.
Meanwhile, Isaac Otimgiu, the MP for Padyere County, said Nebbi is ready to surpass other sub-regions in mobilization.
“We’ve observed the strong mobilization in Lango, but tomorrow, Nebbi will set a new standard,” he declared. “Mobilization has been done through all available structures — from the Parish Development Model to youth and women’s groups. People are attending willingly, even without facilitation.”
Otimgiu also noted Nebbi’s progress in urban development, citing the ongoing tarmacking of municipal roads under the urban road development program and upgrades.
