Former NRM Vice Chairman for Eastern Region, Capt. Mike Mukula, has filed a defamation lawsuit against veteran events promoter Suudiman Lukwago.

Suudiman, a Ugandan national currently residing in Boston, USA where he reportedly works as a ride-share (Uber) driver and with a mental health center, recently made controversial remarks on social media concerning the death of Kenya’s opposition leader, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.

In viral Tik Tok video , Suudiman allegedly accused Capt. Mukula of poisoning Odinga, claiming that the former minister had been hired by President Yoweri Museveni and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to carry out the act during Odinga’s visit to Uganda.

According to a complaint filed before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court by Mukula’s legal representative, Okello Joshua, the statements amount to defamation and the publication of false information on TikTok.

Capt. Mukula has described the allegations as “malicious fabrications” aimed at inciting hatred between Ugandans and Kenyans and tarnishing the reputation of senior Ugandan leaders.

In his tribute to the late Odinga, Mukula hailed him as “a continental statesman, a Pan-Africanist, and a personal friend” whom he had known for over thirty years.

He recounted that Odinga stood by him during his difficult times, including when Mukula was imprisoned in Luzira on false charges. Odinga even sent Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o to represent him at the burial of Mukula’s mother in Omodoi, Soroti  acts Mukula described as gestures of genuine friendship and humanity.

“To me and my family, Raila Odinga was more than a political ally; he was a true friend, a brother,” Mukula said, emphasizing that medical reports confirmed Odinga died of cardiac arrest.

The case is now before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court, and further developments are expected as the matter unfolds.
