Renowned  media personality MC Kats, real name Edwin Katamba, has announced plans to join active politics in 2025, following in the footsteps of fellow entertainers who have made the transition from entertainment to public service.

Taking to his social media platforms, MC Kats revealed his intention to form a new political party called ‘Youth Speak’ with the Luganda translation ‘Muvubuka Yogelaa’.

The party aims to amplify the voices of young people across Uganda and advocate for youth-centered policies.

“Starting a political party called Youth Speak, Muvubuka Yogelaa,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), adding the party’s slogan: “What are you doing for us and how?”

He also publicly invited several well-known personalities to join his cause, including media figure Kasuku, events promoter Bajjo, and musician Lil Pazo.

According to MC Kats, the goal is to build a platform that will demand a greater share of national resources for Uganda’s youth and provide leadership opportunities for the younger generation.

MC Kats’ political move follows months of criticism directed at Bobi Wine, leader of the National Unity Platform. With his latest announcement, it appears Kats is preparing to carve out his own space in Uganda’s political landscape.

His declaration comes just days after fellow entertainer and band singer Stecia Mayanja was introduced as president of the newly formed National Peasants Party (NPP), through which she plans to contest for the country’s top office.

Stay tuned for more developments on MC Kats’ political journey and the launch of Youth Speak.
