The President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Moses Magogo, has responded to recent criticism regarding the Uganda Cranes’ accommodation at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi, dismissing claims that the national team is staying in substandard conditions.
Magogo emphasized that the hotel was deliberately chosen for its suitability as a dedicated football facility, specifically designed to meet the needs of professional athletes. He highlighted features such as specialized meal preparation, training amenities, privacy, and an on-site gym.
The facility, he added, is still undergoing upgrades, including the construction of an outdoor arena and a pitch equipped for night training.
He also pointed out that the hotel has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), an organization recognized for its high standards. In light of this, Magogo questioned the credibility of the criticisms, stressing that CAF’s endorsement validates the quality and appropriateness of the venue.
Speaking to the media, Magogo described the decision to house the team at the Kisaasi facility as both strategic and necessary.
Magogo underlined the importance of privacy and exclusivity for national players, noting that a footballer’s performance is often linked to the quality and customization of their living environment particularly the need to shield athletes from public distractions.
Amid the debate over accommodations, the Uganda Cranes have let their performance speak for itself.
Following a disappointing opening loss to Algeria, the team bounced back in spectacular fashion, securing back-to-back victories against Guinea and Niger with emphatic 3-0 and 2-0 scorelines. Their spirited run culminated in a thrilling 3-3 draw against South Africa in the final group stage match.
The result saw Uganda top their group and earn a historic first-ever qualification to the CHAN quarterfinals marking a significant milestone in the team’s journey and a proud moment for Ugandan football.
