The Best Recognized Private And Public Universities In Uganda

It should be noted that Education is the key and most of the Ugandan citizens who have attended school and completed their studies, have attended some of the most prominent Universities in the Country.

The following are some of the Universities in the Pearl of Africa.

1. Makerere University 

Founded in 1970, Makerere University is Uganda’s largest and oldest University or Institution of higher learning which was first established as a technical school in 1922 and the oldest current University in East Africa.

The University became an Independent National University in 1970.

 

2. Kyambogo University

Also one of the longest serving Universities, Kyambogo University is one of the public and degree awarding institutions that was established in 2003.

 

3. Uganda Christian University 

An Authentic Christian University in Uganda that was established by the church of Uganda in 1997.

It is a private University whose main Campus is located in Mukono and one of the top ranked Universities in the Country hence accredited by the Uganda National Council for higher Education.

 

4. Makerere University Business School

The University is a school of business of Makerere University, Uganda’s oldest University that provides business and management education at the certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

 

5. Victoria University 

The University embarked on its mission in 2013 and was determined to provide a contemporary approach to learning that would ignite a passion for growth and excellence.

In August 2022, H.E Yoweri Kaguta the President of Uganda, Museveni recognized the exceptional activities of Victoria University and awarded the institution.

6. Islamic University In Uganda

This University was opened in the year 1988 by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Government of Uganda.

Islamic University opened with 80 students and two degree programs and they currently have over 120 accredited programs, 8 faculties

These mentioned Universities have through commitment and dedication tried so hard to improve and boast the Country’s Educational sector whereby they provide Knowledge and Skills to the students.
