Musician and NUP mobiliser King Saha has sparked fresh debate after boldly declaring that the opposition will announce Bobi Wine as winner of the 2026 presidential race if the Electoral Commission “fails to do its job.”
Speaking at a charged campaign gathering, the “Winner” singer said NUP has already set up a parallel tally centre and will not rely solely on EC boss Justice Simon Byabakama to declare results.
“We already bought calculators. We shall tally the votes ourselves and announce our winner if Byabakama doesn’t,” Saha told cheering supporters.
His remarks electrified the crowd but drew questions from observers, since only the Electoral Commission is legally mandated to declare presidential results.
Still, Saha’s comments mirror the growing mistrust within the opposition as the country heads toward the heated 2026 polls.
