Jowy Landa Open to Performing for Any Political Party During Campaign Season

TNS singer Joan Namugerwa, popularly known as Jowy Landa, has expressed her readiness to perform for any political party during the ongoing campaign season.

Appearing on local Television station,  the singer was asked whether she had participated in any political events, including the recent album launch for President Museveni organized by fellow artist Eddy Kenzo.

Jowy clarified that she had not been invited to the event, despite being a registered member of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF).

She revealed that she paid UGX 150,000 to join the UNMF SACCO under the Luwero musicians group, and now hopes to benefit from the funds President Museveni recently pledged to the music industry.

Addressing the topic of performing for political groups, Jowy was candid about her stance: she is open to working with any side that offers a performance opportunity.

“I registered with the UNMF SACCO after paying 150,000 shillings. I haven’t received any communication from Kenzo yet, but if the money is being distributed, I should be considered since I’m part of the group. As for performing for any political party, I’m open. I can’t sit back and miss out on money because of fear,” Jowy Landa said.

Her comments come amid increasing political alignment among Ugandan musicians ahead of the 2026 elections.

Some artists have openly declared their support for particular candidates. For instance, musicians like Fik Fameica, King Saha, and Pallaso have aligned themselves with the National Unity Platform (NUP) and have publicly vowed not to perform for other camps.
