Former NTV Uganda news anchor and Mwasuze Mutya host, Faridah Nakazibwe, has finally opened up about why she decided to quit mainstream media after nearly two decades on screen.

Faridah, who shocked viewers when she announced her departure in October 2023, says the decision was deeply personal and long overdue.

Speaking in an interview with Ruth Kalibbala, Faridah revealed that hosting Mwasuze Mutya had become emotionally heavy for her. The show, known for deep and often heartbreaking human stories, slowly began affecting her mental well-being.

“For the last two years, I felt drained. The stories I used to host on Mwasuze Mutya really affected me. It was emotionally exhausting and left me vulnerable,” Faridah said.

The mother of three also explained that listening to painful stories every single day left her mentally tired and emotionally overwhelmed. With time, she realized she needed to step back and protect her peace.

Another big reason for her exit was the desire to live a more private life and spend more time with her children.

“I wanted to live privately and dedicate time to my kids,” she added.

After 17 years at NTV, Faridah decided to close the chapter and focus on her personal goals, including running her own businesses and being more present for her family. Earlier this year, she welcomed her newborn son, Marktoum, and has since embraced a quieter lifestyle away from the spotlight.

Her story sheds light on the emotional burden that media personalities often carry behind the camera.

For Faridah, the choice was not about abandoning her career but choosing peace, mental wellness, and family.
