Renowned Ugandan musician and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo has spoken out to dismiss claims of a fallout between him and fellow artist Bebe Cool over funds allegedly allocated for musicians during President Museveni’s campaign activities.

For nearly a week, social media reports have suggested that Kenzo blocked the NRM Secretariat from releasing campaign funds to Bebe Cool and his associates.

According to these allegations, Kenzo had instead proposed a cost-effective approach through the UNMF, recommending that regional artistes participate in the campaign activities across the country to minimize expenses.

This purported move was said to have angered Bebe Cool and other renown musicians, including Gravity Omutujju, Jose Chameleone, and Catherine Kusasira, fueling talk of a rift within the music fraternity.

However, speaking in a recent interview with a local YouTuber, the Sitya Loss singer  set the record straight.

Bebe Cool – Eddy Kenzo

Kenzo clarified that he never stopped the NRM from funding Bebe Cool, emphasizing that his only suggestion was to ensure inclusion of regional artistes in the campaign program.

“I never stopped the party from releasing funds to Bebe Cool because he’s the one still in charge of clearing musicians performing at Museveni’s rallies. I only advised the party to also involve regional artistes  that’s part of my mandate. When I met the Secretary General, I proposed that five regional artistes join the top performers from Kampala at each campaign rally, and they agreed.”,Eddy Kenzo explained.

Kenzo reaffirmed that there is no bad blood  with Bebe Cool, stressing that the two continue to collaborate closely in support of the NRM and President Museveni’s initiatives.
