The High Court in Kampala has set a date to hear an election petition filed by Walukaga Mathias against the Electoral Commission and its official, John Lubowa.

According to court documents, the case — Election Petition No. HCT-00-CV-EP-0010-2025 — will be heard on December 16, 2025, starting at 9:00am.

The hearing notice, signed by Simon Zirintusa, confirms that the matter will be handled in the forenoon. Court has also warned that the case will proceed even if the respondents or their lawyers fail to show up.

In the notice, court states that if no appearance is made by the respondent or their legal representative, the hearing will go on in their absence.

The document bears the official seal of the Republic of Uganda and includes an ECCMIS security code and a QR code, which links directly to the case details on the Judiciary’s ECCMIS portal.

Walukaga’s petition challenges parts of the electoral process involving the Electoral Commission and John Lubowa. The court will now hear the matter on its merits.
