Social media analyst and outspoken critic Frank Ntambi has been granted bail after spending a week in Luzira Prison, bringing a wave of relief to his supporters.
Ntambi was initially arrested last week and detained at Kabalagala Police Station over statements he allegedly made, which his accuser claimed were false and unfounded.
Following his arrest, he was arraigned in court and remanded to Luzira Prison as he awaited a second court appearance.
This morning, Ntambi returned to Makindye Court, where his legal team submitted a bail application. The court assessed and approved the provided sureties, paving the way for his temporary release.
To secure his bail, Ntambi paid a cash bond of UGX 500,000, while his sureties were each bonded for UGX 5 million an amount they will be liable to pay should he fail to appear for future court sessions.
His lawyer, renowned counsel Nalukoola, confirmed continued legal support for Ntambi as the case proceeds. Ntambi is expected to comply with all court requirements as the legal process unfolds.
