The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has officially announced the burial date for Mzee Nathan Okori Adiyo, the father of former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
Mzee Adiyo, who passed away at the age of 97 due to respiratory complications, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at his ancestral home in Omoro District.
His death comes at a deeply emotional moment—falling exactly on the fourth anniversary of the passing of his son, Jacob Oulanyah, who died in 2022 from lymphoma-related multi-organ failure.
In a public announcement shared on her X (formerly Twitter) platform, Among who succeeded Oulanyah as Speaker and often referred to him as “my late brother” to reflect their close political bond said the burial arrangements had been agreed upon in consultation with the family.
“Following consultations with the family of my late brother, Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, the family has fixed the burial of his late father, Mzee Nathan Okori Adiyo, who passed away yesterday at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, to take place on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, at his ancestral home in Omoro District.”she announced.
She called upon Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, and the general public to attend the send-off and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.
The announcement was accompanied by a formal photo of the late Mzee Adiyo, as tributes continue to pour in for a man remembered as a pillar in his family and community.
