Singer Fik Gaza has shocked many after announcing that he will no longer be performing at National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaign rallies, despite having already received bookings and deposits from promoters.
This comes months after the artist publicly denounced the National Unity Platform (NUP) and crossed over to the ruling NRM party.
In a statement, Fik Gaza explained that he is unable to honor the scheduled performances and is willing to refund all the money paid in advance.
“To all NRM promoters who booked me for your rallies, I regret to inform you that I won’t be able to attend. As agreed, I am willing to return all deposits that were made,” he stated.
His decision follows the recent reported brutality and arrest of several NUP supporters in Mbarara during the political mobilization tour of NUP presidential candidate Bobi Wine in the Ankole region ahead of the upcoming general elections.
According to a police statement released on November 7, 2025, the arrested individuals were allegedly involved in assaulting officers, damaging government property, and disrupting security operations.
Police further noted that they will ensure the safety of all candidates but warned that criminal acts will not be tolerated.
Fik Gaza’s announcement has already sparked heated reactions on social media, with supporters and critics sharing different opinions about his move.
