Elias Luyimbaazi Nalukoola, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, is scheduled to take his oath of office tomorrow, Wednesday, 26th March 2025.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate is expected to arrive at Parliament by 12:00 PM for the swearing-in ceremony.
This follows the confirmation of the gazetted results of the Kawempe North by-election by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among.
The Speaker also extended her congratulations to Nalukoola for his victory.
“I have received official communication from the @UgandaEC along with a copy of the gazetted results. I will proceed to swear in the Member of Parliament-elect for Kawempe North in my chambers tomorrow at 12:00 noon,” stated Among in a post on her official X account (formerly Twitter).
This announcement comes shortly after NRM’s Faridah Nambi Kigongo, who finished in second place, withdrew her petition seeking a vote recount.
On Monday, 24th March, Nalukoola Luyimbaazi, the NUP candidate and winner of the by-election, was gazetted and is now awaiting the swearing-in by the Speaker of Parliament.
In the election, Nalukoola received 17,764 votes, while Faridah Nambi Kigongo garnered 8,593 votes.
