Ugandan BET Award winning superstar Eddy Kenzo has once again thrown the political streets into chaos after boldly claiming that the National Unity Platform (NUP) has lost the massive popularity it once enjoyed among Ugandans.

In a fresh interview, the Sitya Loss singer confidently said NUP’s energy has faded compared to its People Power peak days. According to him, the excitement that once shook the nation has cooled down  and the party urgently needs to reconnect with the real people on the ground.

Kenzo reminded Ugandans, especially what he called “NUP Foot Soldiers,” that he was among the early voices who pushed the message of unity and change.

“NUP has lost popularity. They need to consult me on how to regain it because I’m one of the founders. They know what I did for them. I planted the tree they’re eating from. Now I’m in NRM and you see the vibe. I’m a fire master,” Kenzo said.

The Big Talent Entertainment boss advised NUP to stop depending on online noise and instead return to the grassroots  visiting communities, hearing people’s concerns, and rebuilding the connection that once made People Power a national movement.

While Kenzo was never officially a card-holding member of NUP, he was deeply involved in the early People Power wave before falling out with Bobi Wine’s team. He later leaned toward the ruling NRM after accusing NUP of “greed” and losing its original vision.

His latest remarks have sparked mixed reactions with some agreeing that NUP has lost steam, while others accuse Kenzo of trying to stay relevant in politics.

NUP top leadership has not yet responded to his comments.
