The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially released the polling dates for Uganda’s 2026 General Elections.
According to a statement signed by EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, Ugandans will cast their votes between January 15th and February 6th, 2026 to elect the President, Members of Parliament, and Local Government leaders across the country.
The Presidential and Parliamentary elections, including directly elected MPs and District Woman Representatives, will take place on January 15th, 2026.
Below is the full schedule for other elections:
January 19th, 2026: National Conference for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Special Interest Group (SIG) councillors at Sub-county, Town, and Municipal Division levels.
January 20th, 2026: SIG councillors at Municipality and City Division levels.
January 21st, 2026: National Conference for Workers Representatives.
January 22nd, 2026: District and City Local Government elections — including District Chairpersons, Lord Mayors, and Councillors.
January 27th, 2026: Municipality and City Division elections.
January 28th, 2026: National Conferences for Female Youth, Female Older Persons, and UPDF Representatives to Parliament.
January 29th, 2026: District and City SIG councillor elections.
February 2nd, 2026: Regional Conference for Older Persons Representatives.
February 4th, 2026: Sub-county, Town, and Municipal Division Chairpersons and Councillors elections.
February 6th, 2026: Regional Conferences for Youth Representatives to Parliament.
Justice Byabakama called on all stakeholders to adhere to the official timetable and election guidelines.
“All candidates, their agents, supporters, election observers, and the general public are reminded to observe the respective dates and participate in accordance with the polling guidelines,” he stated.
The EC assured the public of its commitment to delivering free, fair, and transparent elections in line with the Constitution and Uganda’s electoral laws.
