Singer Cindy Sanyu has confirmed that the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) and the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step toward collaboration.
According to Cindy Sanyu , the agreement was finalized a few weeks ago, with both organizations committing to work together toward shared goals even though full consensus wasn’t reached on every issue.
“In the beginning, there was a lot of tension between UMA and UNMF, but about two weeks ago, we had a sit-down and decided to draw up an MOU a structured way to collaborate. Now, we’re working together.”she admitted.
The two bodies have pledged to align on key issues affecting musicians in Uganda, including copyright protection, artist welfare, and professional development long-standing challenges that have often lacked a united front.
