Light political drama unfolded in Kimaanya–Kabonera,Masaka City after incumbent MP and Democratic Front (DF) candidate Dr. Abed Bwanika told supporters he has no interest in clashing with NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

Addressing a crowd on Monday, Bwanika said Kyagulanyi has never attacked him, so he sees no reason to retaliate.

In typical Bwanika humor, he added that Bobi Wine probably just wants his vote  and he’s even willing to give it.

“Kyagulanyi has never attacked me, so I can’t attack him. He just wants my vote,” Bwanika joked.

The comments come weeks after Bwanika fired at NUP, claiming the party had no real supporters in Masaka, a statement that sparked heated political debate

It should be recalled, after his fallout with Bobi Wine, Bwanika, together with former NUP Deputy President Mathias Mpuuga, launched the Democratic Front, a movement that has since attracted several former NUP legislators and others .

Bwanika, who contested for president twice without success, won his first elective seat in 2021 largely riding on the strong NUP wave in Buganda. Despite this, he has remained one of Bobi Wine’s loudest critics, even accusing him of supporting LGBTQ+ causes.

With NUP now fronting Moses Kibuuka to challenge him in 2026, many observers believe Bwanika is headed for a tough political battle to defend the seat he has held for just one term.

His latest remarks have already sparked new conversation among voters, with many wondering what exactly his endgame is.
