Ugandan music fans are in for a festive treat this December, as African music legend Bebe Cool prepares to drop his first single, Circumference, from his highly anticipated album Break The Chains.
Bebe Cool revealed the exciting news at a press conference held at Next Media Park in Naguru. He confirmed that the single will be released this Friday, December 13, and will be available on all major streaming platforms.
Circumference is produced by Nigerian singer and producer PhilKeyz, who is well-known in the Afrobeats scene for his collaborations with artists like Kizz Daniel on hits such as Lie, Nesesari, and the viral 2023 track Cough. The song blends rich Afrobeats elements, showcasing Bebe Cool’s willingness to experiment and explore new sounds.
During the press conference, Bebe Cool spoke passionately about the album, emphasizing that he created it out of pure love for music and a drive to push boundaries. “If anyone asks, ‘Why now?’, let me be clear—I’ve got nothing to prove. Not politically, culturally, financially, or musically. I’m doing this because I love it. I’ve challenged myself to raise the bar with a fresh sound and a level of professionalism that sets a new standard,” he explained.
Despite criticism this year regarding the lack of creativity in Ugandan music, Bebe Cool is determined to change the narrative. “This is an exciting time for Ugandan music, because I’m here to set a new standard—the standard—of what it means to be an African music legend,” he declared.
Circumference offers a sneak peek into the direction Bebe Cool is taking with his upcoming album and musical career. Known for his willingness to push the envelope, Bebe Cool previously explored genres like soft rock, ska, and soca on his album Go Mama.
The single will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Boomplay, and Audiomack on December 13. Fans can pre-save or pre-add the track via a scannable QR code available on Bebe Cool’s official social media pages.
