State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, has called on those who lost in the recent NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections to accept the outcome and channel their energy into more productive ventures.
Speaking at Kololo Independence Grounds, Balaam encouraged the unsuccessful candidates to explore opportunities available through the Parish Development Model (PDM), which offers 1 million shillings in funding. He suggested they invest in income-generating projects such as poultry or piggery farming.
“I want to encourage those who didn’t win to return to their normal lives, no position is designed for just one person. Take advantage of the PDM funds and start something meaningful.”,Balaam said.
Among the notable figures who lost was former Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, a longstanding member of the NRM since 1989. She was defeated by the current Speaker, Hon. Anita Among, in a race marred by allegations of bribery and favoritism.
Balaam thanked Kadaga for her service and urged her to take the loss in stride. He also appealed to President Museveni to consider including Kadaga among his five CEC nominees, acknowledging her enduring contributions to the party.
“To those who have lost, there are better things you can do. Get PDM funds, invest in poultry or piggery, and start earning.”,Balaam concluded. .
