Renowned Ugandan actor, writer, and HIV activist Aloysious Matovu Joy is currently recovering from injuries sustained in a recent boda boda accident.
A video making rounds on social media shows Matovu lying in bed, speaking to his caretakers and reaching out to his fans with words of reassurance.
Speaking to Spark TV, Matovu recounted the incident, explaining that he was en route to attend the burial of a former student from Makerere University.
He was riding on a boda boda with a colleague when a reckless driver carrying a heavy load suddenly collided with them along Jinja Road in the industrial area, causing both riders to fall and suffer injuries.
“We didn’t make it to the burial. Instead, we had to divert to a nearby medical facility for first aid,” Matovu shared.
Aloysious Matovu Joy expressed deep gratitude for surviving the ordeal.
“I was in a terrible state, but God came through for me. I injured my kneecap and hand, and my rider had to get stitches, People gathered and started blaming him, asking how he could be so careless with someone like me.”,he said.
The incident has sparked an outpouring of support online, with fans and well-wishers sending prayers and messages wishing him a quick and full recovery.
