Kampala Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Muhammad Nsereko, has sparked national conversation after revealing he may endorse National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, in the 2026 presidential elections if he’s unable to contest himself.
In a recent exclusive interview, Nsereko spoke candidly about his shifting political stance and future strategy. Despite past disagreements with Bobi Wine, he now considers the NUP leader his preferred alternative.
“If I’m not on the ballot, Bobi Wine is my first choice,” Nsereko declared, signaling a possible realignment within the opposition ahead of 2026.
However, he was quick to distance himself from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and its flag bearer, Hon. Nandala Mafabi.
“I will not support Nandala Mafabi,I will give my endorsement to someone just watch the space. We may have differences, but if I’m not contesting, I will still choose a candidate.”Nsereko stated firmly.
Nsereko emphasized that his political influence doesn’t stem from party affiliations, but from the strength and clarity of his message. He believes any attempt to block him from running in 2026 would be a deliberate effort by those in power who see him as a threat due to his strong grassroots appeal.
“There is power in the message, and my message is different,. “The future of Uganda is being decided by those in powerthey choose who gets to run against them.”,he said.
Separately, Nsereko also made headlines for criticizing singer Stecia Mayanja over her performance at a ruling NRM party event, further underlining his position as a vocal and independent political figure.
